It is one of the most popular schools of Reiki in Japan,
recognized worldwide; is a modern form of Reiki that
combines specific Japanese Reiki elements practiced
within Reiki Usui Reiki Gakkai with the elements from
other Japanese branches of Reiki.
Hiroshi Doi (in photo), founder of Gendai Reiko received
tuning from Kimiko Koyama Sensei, who was president
of Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, so Reiki is inherited, directly
from Usui Sensei.

There are 4 concepts as being the basis of Gendai Reiki:
- Reinvestigation of Traditional Reiki and Western Reiki and
restructuring Gendai Reiki for 'healing the body and mind and
spiritual development'.
- Avoiding mystery, dogmatism and prejudices. Application of
techniques whose effects are usually checked / felt.
- Compliance with Usui Sensei's Reiki basic concepts, applying
effective techniques that match the performance of the concepts
/ goals.
- The techniques are simplified, standardized and are structured
to be used easily in daily life.
Simple teaching of the essence and student support when required
- The most important aspect of the seminar is to send 'fair
and pure Reiki energy" and 'basic essence of Reiki'.
- Support students in using Reiki-ho in everyday life and
practice the techniques repeatedly, after the seminar.
- It is recommended that students practice the Hatsurei-ho
Japanese technique and participates in Reiki meetings, as
much as possible. Receiving Reiju repeatedly purifies the
body and mind. The practice of healing and energy exchange
in Reiki meetings are helpful for improving the Reiki ability.
There are two pillars in Reiki-ho. The first is the Reiki
energy. The second is the use of energy. Tuning is a method
of transmission of Reiki energy.
'Sending (offering) energy' represents opening a resonant
channel for Reiki, and is called 'Reiju' in Japanese tradition
and "Tuning" in West. Some schools of Reiki name
it 'Attunement' but there are not great differences in terms
of method. All are designed to give Reiki energy.
When Usui Sensei received the healing ability, he thought
that 'this healing power should be transmitted to other people'.
And so he created a formula (method) called 'Reiju', as a
result of several ideas and studies.
The first 'Reiju' was made in Harajuku, Tokyo. This method
was given to Chujiro Hayashi Sensei in 1925. Today, most tunings
are supposed to be based on the archetype created by Hayashi
Sensei and gave to Mrs. Hawayo Takata. Then, it seems that
gradual changes have been made in many places.
Regarding the method of tuning, there are differences regarding
the process, time required, number, etc.. In addition, the
tuning method is entirely different from Reiju method. It
seems that Usui Sensei made many improvements to his Reiju
method seeking higher performance.
Reiju from Gendai Reiki-ho is built upon a beginning method,
so as to lead to higher performance. It was called 'Gendai-Reiju'
and has spread widely, at the same time with the workshop
in Vancouver, in August 1999.
It can be said that Tuning or Reiju is the method that strengthens
the ability of healing by activating the inner Reiki of the
receptor and resonance through Reiki Master (Masters).
The system starts from the tuning methods of Reiki Ryoho Gakkai,
similarly with the system Komyo Kai Reiki, not using the methods
used in the Western Reiki, such as: Breath / Violet Breath
nor the Vital Breath.
It is a system very close to the initial tuning of Usui Sensei.
The system has four levels:
Shoden/Level I: after attunement, the practitioner can be
treated by hands-on healing or
for himself, as auto-healing or for others.
Okuden / Level II: after attunement, the practitioner receives
the first Reiki symbols, with which help he can activate his
palms for greater efficiency and make healing also by realizing
and viewing the symbols in certain well-defined points. Also,
the symbols allow cleaning the rooms of negative energies,
harmful, cleansing and energizing the food, but also sending
the light at a distance, creating fields of protection.
Shinpiden/Level III: after attunement, the practitioner receives
new symbols and learn additional techniques, becoming preponderant
the spiritual side of the practitioner evolution that has
reached this level.
Gokuikaiden/Level IV/: after attunement, the new master could
in turn make others attunements / 'tunings' to the students
and practitioners of Gendai Ho Reiki.
